Why I Love Teaching Yoga to Children
Teaching yoga to children is one of the most joyful and rewarding parts of my work. Kids are naturally curious and open, and yoga gives them a safe, fun space to explore movement, breath, and stillness — all while building confidence in their bodies.
Yoga for children isn’t about perfect poses or long meditations. It’s playful. We might roar like lions, balance like trees, or take imaginary journeys to the moon. Through it all, they learn how to focus, how to calm themselves, and how to connect with how they’re feeling — things even adults struggle with sometimes.
I’ve seen shy kids become more expressive, anxious kids find a sense of calm, and energetic kids learn how to pause and breathe. The benefits go far beyond the mat: better sleep, improved focus at school, more patience, and stronger self-esteem.
And honestly? They teach me just as much. Their creativity, honesty, and presence are constant reminders to keep things light and real.
If you’ve ever thought about introducing yoga to your child, I say — absolutely try it. It doesn’t have to be serious or structured. Just a few minutes of stretching, breathing, or laying still together can make a big difference.
